Skansen is the oldest open-air museum and a must-visit in Stockholm. It’s like stepping back in time to see how Swedish life looked before industrialization. You can walk through charming old buildings, watch craftsmen at work, and learn about traditional culture.nSkansen also has a zoo with Scandinavian animals like moose and bears, making it fun for both kids and adults. Seasonal events like Christmas markets add extra charm. It’s a unique mix of history, culture, and nature perfect for a day out!
Probably the best outdoor museum in the nordics. A very big cluster of historical buildings. What makes it stand out is the ticket comes with an aquarium and Nordic animals like a mini zoo. You should use 2-4 hours to fully explore. There are guides or actors in costumes stationed in houses that are open to describe the history of the house and its period or people, which we find very detailed in this aspect. Kids will love the animals in the park. You can even find a cozy old period cafe within the compounds. Excellent visit.
I enjoyed it here even though it the winter. I do recommend purchasing your ticket ahead of time. I used the get your guide app to purchase my ticket and just showed the QR code to enter the barrier.
The best open museum I have ever seen! Amazing!!! It takes several hours to turn it around. The Christmas market was very nice and the traditional dances around the tree. Good food, a bit expensive for fast food. There are endless things to do with children. Animals, playgrounds, nature of incredible beauty, rivers, old houses, aquarium.
A must see when in Scandinavia!nnNowhere else you’re able to experience such a broad spectrum of how life looked like before in Sweden.nnWell preserved. Lively explained. A true experience.nnPlus: come during an official vacation period and you can explore life with actors bringing the different places back a life!
