Sundbyholms Slott AB (Sundbyholm Conference hotel)

Nice views and surroundings, with hiking paths along places of natural and historical interest. Very good food served, and a breakfast that offers that little extra luxury. The rooms of the hotel are cramped and basic, but have good beds. Very friendly staff.

We stayed at Sundbyholms Slott AB as an unforeseen solution. While it met the basic needs for a short stay, I would not recommend it as a destination in itself.nnFood and DiningnThe breakfast was too basic and not very appealing. Dinner was better, with a very tasty risotto and an enjoyable dessert. However, the starter was a buffet with cold items that did not match the quality or style of the other courses. The wine was served far too warm, although staff replaced it with chilled bottles without hesitation when we pointed it out. Despite this, the dinner felt overpriced for what was offered.nnLocation and SurroundingsnThe castle building is only used for breakfast and dinner and does not offer rooms. The nearby port with boats adds a bit of charm, but aside from that, there is little to do. The water is accessible for swimming, though we did not find the atmosphere very inviting. The nearby town also does not have the best reputation, so we chose not to visit it for restaurants.nnService and RoomsnReception staff were practical but not especially friendly. There is a small area with free coffee and water, which was a nice touch. The room was small but had the basic essentials. Free parking is available.nnOverallnSundbyholms Slott AB is suitable as a short stop between destinations, but not ideal for a longer or more engaging stay. The experience was functional rather than memorable.

We planned a couple night stop here between our drive from Gothenburg to Stockholm to refresh with rural, lakefront vistas and charming towns and sights. Had a great time. The hotel property has extensive hiking paths and offers fine views of the lake. The castle is an impressive structure and offers excellent dining service. Staff are attentive and excellent. It is restful and quiet after the bustle of a large city. Just the break we needed. Seeing this part of Sweden added hugely to our understanding and appreciation of the Swedish people and the history of the country. We highly recommend!!!

Its a nice place to have a picnic as its near buy the lake and can have sunshine whole day.

The castle is nice but I really hope the owners would demolish the monstrous building that was built 1968. It destroys the entire setting both from land and from the seaside.
