My recent stay at MJ's Hotel in Malmö was far from the relaxing and hospitable experience I had hoped for. Upon arrival, I encountered an issue that set a disconcerting tone for the remainder of my visit.nnUpon check-in, the hotel employee requested my passport and, without seeking my consent, made a copy of it and filed it away. I immediately expressed my discomfort and objection, citing my previous experience with identity fraud. The employee insisted that it was a legal requirement under Swedish law. It was late, so I decided to address the issue the next morning.nnThe following day, I spoke with the reception staff about my concerns. They reiterated the necessity of keeping a passport copy, again referring to Swedish law. When they produced a document from the police, it only specified that they needed to record identity details such as name, address, and passport number—not a full copy of the passport. After I pointed this out, they apologized and attempted to retrieve the copy of my passport. To my dismay, they were unable to find it. They claimed the employee had destroyed the copy after my objection the previous night, but this explanation seemed implausible and felt like a cover-up for losing my passport details. This entire ordeal left me feeling very uneasy and concerned about the security of my personal information.nnAdding to the discomfort, the hotel's atmosphere was more akin to a bustling nightclub than a restful retreat. The lobby, primarily a bar area, was crowded with non-guests drinking and partying until the early hours. Loud music played continuously, including in the hallways where the rooms are located. On Friday night, the music blared until 2 AM, making it nearly impossible to sleep. The focus of the lobby staff seemed entirely on the bar and its patrons, rather than on ensuring a pleasant stay for hotel guests.nnDespite these significant issues, I must note that the rooms were nice and comfortable, and the breakfast was satisfactory. However, the overall experience was marred by the intrusive noise and the lack of guest-focused service. MJ's Hotel felt more like a nightclub with rooms attached than a hotel with a bar.nnIn summary, while the accommodations themselves were decent, the intrusive handling of my passport and the noisy, party-centric atmosphere made my stay at MJ's Hotel quite unpleasant. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a restful and secure environment.
If you are looking for an upscale boutique hotel experience, this hotel is for you. Opulent design, very attentive stuff, and included breakfast at the charming inner yard— are some of the highlights of our stay. Definitely will return.
Highly recommend this decadent boutique hotel. Stunning decor, plush carpets, velvety curtains, beautiful interior courtyard where breakfast & dinner is served. Friendly & helpful staff. I was asked by both day & night shift if I was enjoying my stay. My Little Room was everything the pictures promised & more. Comfortable & beautifully made up bed. Highly enjoyed my rain head shower & underfloor bathroom heating. Soft & fluffy towels. Dinner was delicious, especially the pumpkin & goats cheese dish! Breakfast was amazing too, big selection for any appetite. Again, couldn’t recommend MJ’s more! I will be back
Go to hotel when I travel to Malmö for business! Easy to find and central location close to city centre and Malmö Centralstation for trains and buses. Beautiful decor in the hotel and the rooms, comfortable beds ++. Fantastic breakfast, very friendly staff. Add on bonus; the bar in the reception are which serves amazing cocktails. All in all, a fabulous hotel and one of the best I have ever stayed in. I consider this my home away from home!
A great place to stay during Eurovision. Lovely hotel and really lovely staff. The location is very good also. Only a few minutes walk from train station and main squares
