Located on a small island accessible by vehicle, boat or walking, We liked that the location is away from the busy part of the city. You can walk around the entire island on paths. The hostel rooms are fun. They are set up like a prison cell in the cell block. The beds are comfortable and clean. Breakfast buffet can be added for an additional charge. I recommend adding this as the options are vast and you can eat as much as you want. They continue to replenish the options throughout the serving time.
In my opinion the coolest hotel in sthlm! Interesting to just let the fantasy flow and come up with stories regarding what sort of people could have been serving time in the rooms former cells. The breakfast was also delicious!
My second stay at this hotel was in March 2024; I had come the year earlier for a nearby wedding.nBoth times my rooms, former cells in a historic prison, were quite comfortable and evidenced thoughtful design.nThe breakfast buffet is absolutely superb, with house-made breads and preserves plus a fine array of the healthful and decadent to go with them. The Swedish crepes with whipped cream and lingonberry jam are not to be missed.nThe staff, from room cleaners to managers, are unfailingly friendly and helpful.nGreat location on an island which is half a nature preserve yet convenient for public transportation.
Really clean room, very cosy and comfy stay. The location was good and was only a 15min walk to the metro. Great choice at breakfast - overall really great value.nnHowever, they are getting a star deducted due to them taking payment from my credit card without authorisation. I had no idea they had taken payment when I was checking in as nothing was said so I thought I'd be paying when I checked out. They went ahead and charged the card I don't use when aboard and therefore I got hit with transactional charges. Hotels should never automatically take payment without checking preferred payment method first and this was very poor practise on their behalf. So watch out for that.nnSecondly, there was an issue with the sink drain in my room. Every time I used the sink there was an awful blocked drain smell that filled the room. I did ask if they could just pop some bleach down the sink, which I was assured they would to help, but that never happened.nnWhilst I would stay here again and do recommend, there are some customer service issues that need to improve.
They have change the system to register the cars in the parking lot. Before I just have to write by hand on a book the registration number and the room. Quick and easy. Now I have to use my phone, scan a code and provide too much info. It takes longer and isn't comfortable. I don't appreciate to do receptionist work the first thing anytime I check in.
