Scandic Malmen

Our experience was great, and this isn't my first time at Scandic. As usual, my experience was excellent. The place is fantastic and close to everything. As a Scandic member, and needing 1,000 more points to become a GOOD Friend, it's definitely one of my favorite hotels. I've stayed at several Scandic hotels in Stockholm, and Scandic Malmen is one of them.nI loved its location; it's only a 20-minute walk to central Stockholm, Gamla Stan, the Royal Palace, and many other attractions. There are also many restaurants near the hotel, some of which stay open late, which is important for travelers. The rooms were good; we booked two: a standard room and a family room for two adults and a child. I wish the family room had been a bit bigger because with the addition of a third bed, it felt a little cramped, but it was still good overall. But the view from the family room isn't the best!nnI also hope that Scandic brings back the breakfast option included with the booking, without additional costs, so we can continue to enjoy our experience at Scandic hotels!

I had a very disappointing and frankly unacceptable experience at this hotel.nnOn the night of Saturday, March 21st, my boyfriend and I lost our apartment keys and urgently needed a place to stay. We went to the hotel lobby and politely asked if there was any room available. The receptionist immediately said there were no rooms without even checking.nnWe then asked if she could recommend another hotel nearby, as it was cold, late at night, and I was in pain and struggling to walk properly. She simply said she didn’t know and told us we had to leave.nnWe asked if we could stay in the lobby for just 5 minutes while we searched for another hotel ourselves, since we had nowhere else to go at that moment. She refused again, in a very cold and dismissive way, and essentially pushed us out as if we were unwelcome intruders.nnI have traveled extensively and have never been treated with such lack of basic human decency by hotel staff. We were polite, respectful, and simply asking for minimal help in a difficult situation. Instead, we were treated with complete indifference and disrespect.nnThis was not just poor service. It was a total lack of empathy and professionalism. I would not recommend this hotel based on this experience.

Part of the well-known Scandic chain, located in Södermalm, very close to the metro and bus stop. Rooms are clean and cosy, the beds are too soft unfortunately but you can always remove the topper, but the staff is cool and the breakfast beautiful although not included. Sometimes weekends can mean loud music, but it stops at midnight.

If you are not looking for a luxury hotel, but want somewhere clean in a nice neighborhood where you can walk or take a bike to sightseeing, this is a good option. The room wasn't big enough, but it was great. I couldn't find any faults, but I wouldn't say it was 100% excellent.

I stayed here during 2025–2026, and here are my thoughts:nnThe hotel has a nice, modern design and is clean. The room is quite small, but well-designed and pleasant.nnHowever, there are no complimentary drinks or bathroom amenities provided, so you need to prepare everything yourself, which is inconvenient.nnDaily housekeeping is very minimal. Towels and bed linens were not changed at all during my stay, which was disappointing.nnThe location is excellent very convenient, safe, and easy to walk everywhere.nnDuring Christmas and New Year, this was the most affordable option compared to other places.
