Another one night visit, with dinner and breakfast.nThe welcome was warm and friendly. The room a good size with a very comfortable bed. Nice shower with robes, a pleasant touch, but it is a spar hotel so lots of guests wandering around in just robes.nIn the bar we had the great good fortune to be served by an expat who loves his job and it showed. The whole team were enthusiastic and very helpful providing good service.nThe menus -we saw both bar and restaurant, are sensibly short with choices for most diets.nWe opted for the steamed catfish, served with shrimps, heritage carrots, mashed potatoes and asparagus, a fish not often seen in the UK. Well worth trying and certainly more interesting than the good looking burger we saw being served available everywherenFollowed by a lemon ice cake with a coulis, sadly not very lemony- probably just a bit too cold. All washed down with a summer beer from Gotland.nBreakfast was a self service buffet with pretty much everything you can think of available.nA very good place to stay.nThey have private dining rooms and function rooms as well as the spa, gym and of course sauna.nThe bus terminates a couple of minutes walk away.
Beautiful hotel. Nice staff. Good food and excellent wines even alcohol free wines. The open sauna outside is also nice if you don’t have a spa ticket. They were all friendly to us and our one year old daughter.nWe are enjoying our stay.
This place was good! Not getting the 5 stars cause they were testing the fire alarms today or something, and that noise was really annoying, especially when you are on a spa trying to relax. And their restaurant's menu has pretty much only 1 option, depending on the day of the week, it should have more options.
This review is based solely on the restaurant experience. Service was just bad, like the worst i've experienced. Our sitting was at 20:00, we got to order drinks at 20:40. It took one hour to get the glasses of wine we ordered. It took another hour for the food to be served. We finished the sitting at 23:00. No explanation or compensation from staff. If it takes 2,5 hours to serve the food, you could at least give some sort of update to what is happening and obviously offer some free drinks or something. With that said, it took an hour to pour a glass of wine so i don't know if we would have time over for complimentary drinks.
Doesnt worth the price or lift up to the expectations you could have of a 4 stars hotel. We booked an hotel spa thinking we will pay a bit more than a normal hotel but we will be able to enjoy the facilities from the spa like the swimming pool or the sauna. What we didnt know because they really dont make it clear is that you have to pay 500kr per person to access the spa for 3 hours. Most hotel of that range give you access to a sauna or a pool and its included in the price but not here. Having pay 500kr per person we were then expecting a very nice spa experience, but it was quite disapointing, the steam sauna was way to warm to the point that we thought we would get burnt, we and some other host pointed it out to someone from the staff. On the other hand the classic ”nordic sauna” which was suppose to be 70 degrees was somewhere around 35 degrees and you couldnt even pour water on it, so there was one dry sauna and one normal bastu which were actually exactly the same and both were really not warm at all, not to mention that the door of the bastu didnt close properly either. The pools are rather small, dont even think to swim in it. When you ask people to pay an extra fee for the spa facilities you should provide the same level of experience you would get in a normal spa. It was very disapointing. On top of that the room was nothing special at all. We paid 2000kr for it and we had a room in the elevator/staircase hall, on the ground floor with view on the parking lot and a sad piece of grass, there was no plug on one side of the bed, the carpet was damaged in some parts and the doors showed black marked, the sofa table was clearly damaged and the ventilation was dusty. But the worst for us were the curtains which are absolutely not opaque and let the light through which is definetely an issue in the summer in Sweden. Overall this room really didnt lift up to what you would expect from a 4 stars hotel and definetely didnt worth 2000kr.
